Live Online Learning - free ebook

I discovered this resource 'Live Online Learning' at Barry Sampson's blog. This ebook provides an overview with strategy suggestions to synchronous facilitation.

You can download the book at http://onlignment.com/live-online-learning-a-facilitators-guide  (you are asked to sign up for a mailing list). There is a section titled: Why learn in real-time? Ten reasons are provided.

"Participants are more likely to carry

out a self-paced task, such as reading
or writing up an assignment, if they
know a live event is coming up at
which they will have to report on their
progress."

Ramblings: I found the reasons on target and substantiate how "solving complex problems will require synchronous communication." This is a useful resource adding to the discussion of the what, when and why that is underway in education regarding asynchronous, synchronous and blended communication tools.
