What is Learning?

What is Learning?: An Interview with Elliot Washor
Paraphrased experts from audio interview with Alan November:

"We have objects we hold dear -  do schools know what those objects are and providing learning environments with those objects? Most of the time no, what you are doing in school is from what some one said and the learning structure is off,  so you end up with a not very good environment for learning.”

“Create an environment for learning, richness of objects and people, Bruner talks about this – how language develops, manipulate objects, make some rules and sit around a campfire and talk about. You want to learn more and more.”

What I heard in the interview with Eilliot Washor was how learning is closely tied to intrinsic learner interest 'objects we hold dear' (similar to Dan Pink's point about autonomy) and it is incumbent upon the instructor / educational environment to discover / nurture this inward to outward learner progression.
